Gary Bedore’s KU hoops notebook
Great comment from Marcus. If he stays hungry and focused he could be an All-American before his career ends. I think the guys coming back will have a chip on their shoulder and will be more mature from having their hearts broken this year.

KU Athletics worker honored as most inspirational athlete
This was a great story to come across on such a grim day for kusports. Congratulations to you Mr. Williams. You make KU Athletics, and many others very proud.

Four Jayhawks named All-Big 12; Cole Aldrich chosen as Defensive Player of the Year
Congratulations guys! We're all proud of you. I guess it wouldn't be fair to give HCBS Coach of the Year every season, so it's just understood that he is undoubtedly the best coach in the Big 12 (and the entire NCAA). It would be fun if we could see the individual coach's ballots.

Free throws didn't cost Kansas the 2003 NCAA championship: A convincing argument
Jesse, you've done it again! You never fail to brighten my day by catering to the KU hoops fanatics. This game is a major event in my life, as I was a 20 year-old living next door to Memorial Stadium that year. And, oh what a year it was! Beating a very good Duke team, the amazing finish to the Arizona game, then dominating D-Wade and Marquette. The agony of McNamara burying threes, and the joy of getting back in the game. A heartbreaking finish, but overall a great game. Some positive things often overlooked:
-Keith Langford was incredible in his first two tourneys! I believe foul trouble kept him off the court some in the championship game, I think because he guarded Melo a little bit (way undersized), but still turned in a brilliant game.
-Collison had 21 reebs. Such a great college player, but a disappointing loss to end his career. Was phenomenal in the Duke win.
-Gravy! Jeff Graves had his best game as a Jayhawk, with 16 and 16.
-Hinrich left the game with a hurt ankle, but after he came back in he went baseline and threw it down viciously in someone's face. His best dunk as a Jayhawk, hands down. Desperation 3 as time expired came oh so close.
-And, yes, I'm gonna say it...Michael Lee's shot was going in. We all felt it. He caught the pass in rhythm and had a perfect release, but Warrick made a legendary defensive play. It would have been a very different legacy for Mr. Lee had that shot gone down. He's still one of my favorite glue-guys to ever play here.
Roy's last game was a great one. It ended a terrific era, but welcomed in an even better one. You can blame free throws, or Gerry, or Hakim, or Roy, or Melo, or Dean Smith, but I think the chapter was meant to end this way. Who knows what would be happening here if we had won? I wouldn't trade what we have accomplished since then for anything.

Greatest KU games: No. 5
Cole was mistaken in his quote...Jeremy Case had come to Kansas to play for Roy. He was part of the dud class of the '03-'04 season, featuring Jeremy, David Padgett, JR Giddens and Omar Wilkes. Case was still on the team because he redshirted after his freshman year. I enjoyed this game about as much as any game I've ever watched, because after Davidson I didn't think we could beat UNC. Self is right, we played PERFECT basketball for 13 minutes or so in the first half.

Game 24: KU @ Texas
Bob Knight seems to really like Brady's game, and I would value his opinion over just about every other broadcaster in the nation. I wouldn't call it national praise, but getting compliments from one of the greatest coaches ever is pretty cool. Knight notices the same things that Self values most, which is why it's fun to listen to him.

KU press effective, but hardly the difference
At least Tyshawn was looking to attack the rim (not the whole game, mind you), which is more than I can say for our bigs. I can recall several times where he read the defense well and went to the hole. It would have been nice if he finished more of them, but I liked his aggressive mindset. The entire team failed at the end of the game, not just Tyshawn.

Game 14: KU vs. Cornell
Justify- LaMarcus Aldridge is having a fine year for the Trailblazers. Cole AldriCH of Kansas is also having a fine year. I would agree that we "settle" for outside shots a little too much, but we got down and time was running out. There was only one player with the stones to play for a win, and that was Sherron. The ball got inside quite a bit, but our bigs weren't finishing. I am 100% in agreement with the A+ grade. I don't care if you're Magic Johnson, one turnover in 35 minutes is brilliant.

Who Can Win It All - January Update
I hate to focus on a minor detail of your blog, but you're absolutely right about the KU teams in the 90s. Roy was so stubborn about everyone staying fresh that we didn't fully utilize our weapons. I looked into it a bit and found that PAUL PIERCE only played 29 minutes a game over his career! Brady played more than that last year. I hate to think what could have been if we would have played our top talent for the majority of the minutes.

California comes close
The record was set more in the mid-to-late 90s, though I don't know exactly how many games. Raef Lafrentz and the class of 1998 never lost at home, so it began sometime before the '94-'95 season and ended sometime after the '97-'98 season.
