Seven of 16 Kansas University teams posted team grade-point averages of 3.0 or better (on a 4-point scale) last fall. Men's golf led the way with a 3.35 GPA.
During the fall semester, 151 student-athletes were named Jayhawk Scholars after recording GPAs of 3.0 or higher, and 22 student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Other teams with GPAs above 3.0 were: Men's cross country (3.10), women's cross country (3.28), rowing (3.0), soccer (3.18), women's swimming and diving (3.19) and women's track and field (3.28).
Other GPAs were: women's golf (2.99), women's tennis (2.82), men's basketball (2.79), softball (2.78), men's track (2.73), volleyball (2.65), women's basketball (2.59), baseball (2.54) and football (2.39).
The women's track team has recorded a 3.0-or-better GPA for 19 of the last 20 semesters, dating to the spring of 1994.
And four KU teams -- rowing, soccer, women's track and women's swimming and diving -- recorded back-to-back semesters of 3.0-or-better GPAs.
